I understand participation in our ice hockey program or any form of interscholastic
athletics is a privilege earned not a given right.
With this in mind, I will not use the sport season as an excuse to neglect obligations to
my family or compromise my academic standards. I also acknowledge, in addition to
any standards set by my team, I must adhere to the guidelines and regulations outlined
in my Jonathan Dayton High School student handbook as I am firstly a member of its
student body.
I understand my personal conduct will impact perception of my coaches, team and
school.
With this in mind, I will be conscious my demeanor, my language and my actions
portray the character of a mature young adult both on and off the ice.
I understand my coaches assume responsibility as guardians and mentors of their
players.
With this in mind, I trust the exercises and expectations of my coaches are intended to
help me as a person and a hockey player.
I understand our ice hockey program participates in NJSIAA varsity athletics.
With this in mind, I accept my role on the team to be defined by my commitment to
attendance, physical improvement, mental comprehension of team play, and positive
attitude all relating to the betterment of our hockey program and its competition at the
varsity level.
I understand these ideals and pledge to fulfill them to the best of my ability.
